Why Polls Are Bullshit! …and Why You Care. December 7, 2007

Go on over to YouTube to watch this clip from an episode of Penn and Teller’s Bullshit! (a series on Showtime kind of like Myth Busters - debunking bullshit!).
This is a great look at how “polls” are really conducted. You’ve read them in papers, magazines; watched them on news channels; heard about them from one person to another. Polls like which presidential candidate is winning, or what people think about immigration reform. Well, see for yourself in the aforementioned clip about how that information is gathered.
By asking someone the same question a dozen different ways, you’ll eventually end up with the answer that you (or the person/company conducting the poll) is looking for. For instance, if you were Fox News, you’d probably want to run a poll that shows most Americans believe in god. But if you poll a large amount of atheists, how do you twist that the way you want it? Just ask them what they believe in, and when they tell you they don’t believe in god, just ask them if its possible that god exists. Most would say yes (I would, even though I’m an atheist and don’t believe in any god), so you could surmise that they believe in god, even though they do not. Now, you’ve got the right answers to the poll. Time to put it on TV!
Keep in mind that as the media tightens its grip over our reality and our government becomes more and more entrenched in its corruption, that some of us need to stay sharp. Don’t let your friends, your family, your coworkers, or even strangers go about thinking that what they get spoon-fed to them every day is the real deal. Because sadly, that’s the direction we’re headed in. Our constitution is in shreds, our leaders are selling us to the highest bidder like slaves, and that natural instinct to sense deceit and to rise up against the powers that be has faded.
I read a news headline the other day, probably from Digg, that mentioned how 18 year old voters were 11 years old when Bush became president. Now that they can vote, the only government they’ve ever known has been the Bush administration. The next generation is going to suffer far worse than our own because of this.
Education really is power. Do your part; whatever it may be.
CellMass, Syntha-6, and No-Xplode Update December 3, 2007
Posted by Joe in : Health and Fitness , add a commentI’ve noticed a lot of incoming searches pertaining to these products that I don’t feel have been answered on this site. Let me target them all.
1) Syntha-6 Taken After Workout:
Sure, why not? You can (and should) take Syntha-6 either an hour before or within an hour after working out. Keep in mind, if you take No-Xplode and/or CellMass, you’ve got to plan around your No-Xplode cocktail (I usually take it 30 minutes before working out) and your CellMass boost (which should ALWAYS be taken immediately after working out). You need to let the CellMass digest, so give it a good half hour before eating (ex., Syntha-6). No-Xplode absolutely has to be on an empty stomach, so avoid eating anything a half hour before & after taking No-Xplode.
KEEP IN MIND: You MUST drink over 100 ounces of water a day when you’re taking No-Xplode. Otherwise, YOU WILL GET SICK. Be sure to drink about 40 ounces during the day BEFORE you take No-Xplode. I also recommend drinking 20-30 ounces during your workout. Follow up with CellMass, Syntha-6, a protein-rich meal, and another 40 ounces of water.
2) Difference from taking No-Xplode and CellMass
I’ve used No-Xplode, CellMass, and Nitrix for the better part of 6 months now with a solid 2 month break and off-and-on breaks from different work schedules. Honestly, I didn’t take any of the products 100% effectively. I did try to take Nitrix 3 times a day, which I managed for the most part. No-Xplode I always took 30-45 minutes before working out. I skipped taking it on non-workout days, seemed like a waste and got me pumped up for nothing. CellMass I usually took after working out, and I tried but often failed to take it 8 hours later as well. Never on non-workout days. In all honestly, CellMass is probably useless if you don’t take it twice a day.
The effects? No-Xplode was evident since day one. I was stronger, more pumped, could work out longer and harder, and had focus. In the end, this obviously aids in strength and body building as you will conquer every single workout. No doubt about it, No-Xplode is an excellent product.
Nitrix - I’m not 100% sure, but I’d say Nitrix does have a bit to do with maintaining larger muscles and improved vascularity on a regular basis. Its effect on working out, however, I don’t know. Maybe it helped, maybe it didn’t. I’ve stopped taking it and I physically “look” a bit smaller/less pumped. But that doesn’t mean it was all Nitrix.
CellMass - I didn’t use CellMass effectively enough, but I imagine it would have done what it was supposed to do. It would have lead to faster regeneration and hardening of the muscles. Will I take it again? Definitely, but I’ll take it twice on workout days and at least once on non-workout days. I think this could be an integral part to my workout.
Syntha-6 - I haven’t taken more than a handful of servings. Pure laziness and intolerance to drinking such a huge amount of protein/milk at the same time. Once I start up my workout regime again, I’ll use No-Xplode once on workout days, CellMass twice (once on non-workout days), and I’ll take a full serving of Syntha-6 every day in addition to a protein rich diet. I don’t need to get into much detail here: Syntha-6 is another quality protein supplement like any other; it just happens to taste really damn good! If you don’t get enough protein, you WON’T get big. New research indicates that taking 60-80 extra grams of protein a day is not sufficient in a body building routine and that you should actually consume 100-180g depending on body weight. Honestly? Adding an extra 50-100g should be sufficient in addition to a protein rich diet. Try eating at least one chicken breast (or comparable piece of lean meat) in addition to other strong sources of protein (eggs, etc.) daily.
A good diet, focus on supplementation, and dedication to your routine will bring about the results you’re looking for. All said and done, using these BSN products will absolutely help you achieve your goals faster (with the possible exception of Nitrix).
Krill Oil: Better than Other Fish Oil?
Posted by Joe in : Health and Fitness , 1 comment so farI just put in an order online for some Krill Oil tablets.
If you’ve read my previous posts on fish oil, you’ll know that I take daily doses of the stuff to improve my general well-being. Fish oil is good for your circulatory system, skin health (see: no acne for months now), cellular activity, arthritis pain relief, and more. I tend to take a little more than the recommended daily dose to keep acne at bay, but there doesn’t seem to be a single side effect to fish oil (yet!).
Any way, I was browsing through some health articles and found some on krill oil. Krill is a shrimp you’ll find in the Antarctic. Apparently, oil extracted from kill is much more potent and absorbable than other fish oils. It also comes in the form of phospholipids, as compared to free triglycerides in other fish oils. What does this mean, in English?
Phospholipids are what make up your cell membranes and protect the cells from free radicals. Since krill oil’s Omega-3 fatty acids come in this form, they are more “bio-available” than other oils since our body uses them more easily and quickly than as free triglycerides. Why else does krill oil get absorbed more quickly and become more potent? It has natural antioxidants in it, unlike other fish oil, which helps guard against oxidization in the body (preventing the oil from turning into free radicals). This way, you don’t have an abnormal imbalance of antioxidants from taking fish oil.
The benefits to krill oil seem huge. Smaller dosages, amplified effects, and even no nasty fish burp after taking the pills! This is due to the brevity of the time it takes to absorb krill oil.
I first read about it on this site selling krill oil. Google it yourself to read more
I will be sure to update on my consumption of krill oil in the next 4 weeks (give it some time to get into my system).
Christian Bale Neogtiating Terminator 4 December 2, 2007
Posted by Joe in : Entertainment , add a commentWhat better actor to play John Connor or the Terminator than a beefed up Christian Bale?
After seeing what he can do with his body in American Psycho, and with all the different roles he’s played (The Prestige, Rescue Dawn, American Psycho, The Machinist), its clear he’d be a win for either role. This is exciting news for the new line of Terminator films. Three sequels are planned now that spawn the war against the machines. Terminator 4 is to be called Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Bit of a silly name; should have kept it simple. Either way, doesn’t affect the movie itself, right?
Feel free to head on over to Yahoo to read more about Christian Bale and Terminator 4.
