I recently purchased a Razer Pro mouse when it popped up on Woot one day for $25. Not a bad price. I had heard of the mouse before but wasn’t too sure if it was for me or not. But for $25?  Why not…

When the mouse came a few days later, I quickly bumped my Razer Diamondback off the desk and put it in the neat little pouch that it had came with. I unwrapped my Razer Pro mouse, plugged it in, and got to testing. Physically, it looked great; a white shell with blue LED light emitting in just the right places. It felt the same as the Diamondback and weighed about the same.

Performance wise, the mouse is a winner. Its so precise it couldn’t be better! Although similar to the Diamondback, the Pro’s optical sensor is always on, making sure you have the absolute fastest response time possible.

Will update this post with some pics and detailed comparisons of the two mice soon. Of course I’ll still be buying a Razer Copperhead, which is the same as the Pro but with more buttons, adjustable weight, cooler looks, and 2000dpi.

Update, as promised. Click to continue…

Here are some pictures:

Pro Mouse:

The Pro|Solutions 1.6 Mouse is characterized by its “always-on” feature. Unlike most other optical mice, the optical lens never shuts down on this mouse. Its always on. To a gamer, that means a lot; its obviously going to be the quickest, most responsive mouse since you’re not waiting a millisecond or two for the optics to come back on when you need them. Otherwise, this Pro mouse is about the same as the Diamondback. Both are 1600dpi and have a 16-bit data path. They both handle 6400 frames per second. All this basically means you have one of the most technologically advanced mice on the planet.

Diamondback:

This has been my mouse for a couple years now. The Pro has since replaced it but again the only difference being is the always-on sensor. Did I notice a difference?  Yup. Its better.

Copperhead:

The new Razer Copperhead

When I have about $65 to blow on a mouse again, I’m getting this. Its not optical; its a laser mouse. Laser is more accurate than optical and does not require certain surfaces to operate on better than others.

What’s so worth $65 in a mouse, you ask?

-2000dpi (a world first)

-32kb on-board memory (another first)

-7080+ frames per second

-always-on laser

-optional Pro-Tools add-on for three separate weights and added dummy buttons

Talk about colors, too. The Pro only comes in plasma blue, but the Diamondback and Copperhead both come in plasma blue, anarchy red, and chaos green.

All great mice for sure. They’re ambidextrous, comfortable, large, have nice big buttons, the best features, and the latest technology. Can’t go wrong with any one of the three. There’s actually one more new Razer mouse that’s designed for RTS gameplay, but its pretty much the Copperhead with only 3 buttons and no Pro Tools.
